Medieval ironworking site and barbed and tanged arrowhead findspot, High Bishopley, Frosterley (Frosterley)

This is the site of a 12th or 13th century iron working or smelting site. It was well away from a stream and used local bog ore. The fuel used was probably mainly charcoal. (2)

A Bronze Age barbed and tanged arrowhead was found here (4).
