Healeyfield Smelting Mill, Healeyfield (Castleside)

Healeyfield lead smelt mill worked from 1805 to 1913. The mill buildings have been destroyed, but the remains of the flues can still be seen. This used to be a Scheduled Monument protected by law but was de-scheduled in 1997 by English Heritage. (2)

Site of 19th century lead smelt mill on the East side of church Street and North of the Watergate Burn. The zigzag flue system is in ruins. Depicted on 1861 OS 1st edition 6" map. (11)
