Field system, Hunstanworth (Hunstanworth)

During a field walking exercise in early December 1992 an extensive field system was noted in Nookton East Park, Hunstanworth.

The field system is described as a series of sub-circular and/or D-shaped field banks of varying freshness. Some of these banks are noted on the OS 1:25000 map. Areas of ridge and furrow are noted to exist both inside and outside the field system - mostly broad rigg, i.e. Post-Medieval, but with an area of possible cord rigg, i.e. Later Prehistoric, circa 1m wide.
