St. Alban's is a picturesque church built in 1886, consisting of a nave surmounted by a squat tower and belfry with weather vane, a porch on the western end of the south wall and an apse on the eastern end of the nave (1). Streetview images (2) show that the building is brick-built with a steeply pitched roof, gable copings over the apse, which itself shows evidence of windows having been bricked up. The church is known to contain a number of features dedicated as war memorials, including a First World War memorial that was once located above the fireplace in the old Miners' Hall of the village (3-4).
