War Memorial Gravestone and Walls, Hope Street, Sherburn (Sherburn)
Located on the eastern side of Hope Street close to the mini-roundabout junction with Front Street and Hallgarth Street. Memorial takes the form of a gravestone shaped slab of granite with a rounded top, flanked by two flat-topped wings with gently sloped front faces. The whole forms a small wall and sits on a shallow plinth set at the head of a block-paved path set back from and facing the road. Central gravestone panel bears the dedication: "Sherburn Village / War Memorial / Dedicated to those / who have served fought & died / in wartime". A laurel wreath motif dominates the centre of the dedication stone, followed by a quotation: "There is no wealth but life. These Gave their all".
