War Memorial Cross by Boltsburn Bridge, Rookhope (Rookhope)
Granite cross of wheel type on three stone bases set inside a raised area with garden enclosed by gated railings. Front face of cross has a sword superimposed in half relief. Dedication is on a small plinth at the foot of the cross shaft: "For Home and Country / Erected to the memory of the / men from this parish who / served in the Great War / 1914-1918". The names of "Those who fell" in both World Wars are then listen on the front face of the main pedestal on a smoothed panel set within the rough hewn rock, WW2 dedication and names underneath those for the First World War. The names of men who returned from WW1 are then listed on the other three panels of the pedestal. Another plaque is attached to the front face of the top step beneath the pedestal containing the details of the erection of the memorial. Unveiled 1921, WW2 additions added later. (1-2)
