St. John the Evangelist Church, Meadowfield (Meadowfield)
Located on the corner of the A690 and St. John's Road, St. John the Evangelist Church was built around the 1875, the nave being the first part of the building to be constructed. A north aisle was added in 1905 (1). Streetview images (2) show that the church is stone built with a steep pitched slate roof over the nave supporting a slender spire and belfry. The north facing gable is flanked by buttresses, has a stone cross finial over the apex and a large stained glass window dominating the wall. On the western side there is an additional smaller building adjoining the nave, presumably a vestry - itself with north and south gable ends, pitched roof and tall chimney stack. The church is known to contain a number of items dedicated as war memorials (3-4).
