St. Paul's Church, Church Street, Haswell (Haswell)

The parish church of Haswell was built in 1867 (1). Streetview images (2) show that it is brick-built with steep pitched tiled roofs, two protruding gables on the northern face, the western of which is an entrance porch, the eastern one carrying a three-light stained glass window with three upper oculi on the northern wall and a tall chimney stack emanating from its roof. A squat belfry over the western gable has a tall pyramidal cap whilst two apexes down the central spine of the roof support cross-shaped decorative finials. The eastern and western gables of the main body of the church are each adorned with large stained glass windows. The church is known to contain a number of features dedicated as war memorials (3-4).
