Sandstone obelisk bearing wreath carved in half relief on a square pedestal resting on three steps. Located on the left hand side of the main gates to the cemetery from Oaks Bank. Dedication to the men of Evenwood, Ramshaw and Lands who made the supreme sacrifice during the First World War is carried on the front face of the pedestal whilst the names of the WW1 dead are listen on panels on the sides. WW2 dates and names incised on the rear panel. The whole is set within a square border of gravel bounded by a low kerb. Unveiled 1921 (1-2).
There is evidence to show that a second war memorial was erected in the town in 2011. The memorial does not show on maps yet and newspaper articles do not state exactly where the new memorial is located. It was erected in the face of strong opposition from the local community who thought the money could be better spent elsewhere (3).
