War Memorial in front of Literary Institute, Church Street, Coxhoe (Coxhoe)
Monument of coursed stone on base of two steps bearing a large elaborate carved shield on the front face. Shield carries the dedication to the memory of men who fell in the First World War. Names in leaded letters in four columns. Below the shield is a further plaque bearing a dedication to those killed in action in WW2, also in four columns. Originally unveiled in 1922. The memorial sits within its own garden with paving, benches, flower borders and trees outside of the literary institute (1-2).
