Cross of Celtic wheel type on a square column sitting on a tapering squared plinth. The plinth sits on two steps, the upper of which bearing receptacles for flowers at each corner. The whole structure sits on a raised square platform in a grassed area in front of Joseph Hopper Terrace. The memorial is dedicated to fallen soldiers from the World Wars, the dedication inscribed on the riser of the top step. First World War names are listed in three columns on the front face of the plinth, listed in two columns on the left and right sides. 1939-45 names are found on an additional sloping tablet at the foot of the cross, listed in three columns. Originally unveiled in 1924, rededicated 1953 (1-2).
