Memorial cross of St. Cuthbert, 17ft, on a tapering column with chamfered edges on a pedestal at the top of two steps. The lower step is protected by a low railing whilst the entire memorial stands in a small concreted area with low walls and flower tubs opposite the junction of High Street/Hagg Road/Church Street. The dedication to the men of Byers Green who died in the First World War is on the front face of the pedestal, the names listed in single columns on the sides. The back face of the pedestal bears the dedication for those who served and died in WW2. Originally unveiled 1925; dedication panel to WW2 unveiled 1948. (1-2)
