War Memorial Obelisk with Crucifix, St. Mary's Churchyard, Blackhill (Blackhill)
16ft obelisk with crucifix attached to the front. Ground level platform 10x6ft with two steps each six inches in height. A pedestal sits on top of the steps with the obelisk and crucifix rising above. At the base of the obelisk is a cross set within an incised circular emblem.
The dedication to fallen soldiers of the First World War is on the front face of the pedestal on a grey marble plaque underneath the word 'Sacrifice', incised in a shallow arc. Another marble plaque on the left side of the pedestal carries the names of soldiers from the Second World War.
Originally dedicated in 1919, then rededicated in 1999. (1)
