This is a listed building. Gainford Hall is a manor house dating from around 1603 and built for John Cradock, vicar of Gainford. The building was restored during the late 19th century. Constructed of sandstone rubble with flush quoins. The north doorway has over it a shield bearing the arms of Cradock and is inscribed IOHN:CRADOCK 1600. Highly sophisticated in plan and elevation and it has been tentatively attributed to the architect Robert Smythson.
