Marble statue of a soldier in the D.L.I. field service uniform with bowed head, leaning on a rifle. He stands on a square column with two deep pedestals resting on two steps. On the right side of the main column there is a panel with the dates and names relating to WW2 whilst on the left side there is panel bearing the names of seven airmen who lost their lives at Green Laws, 1943. Originally unveiled and dedicated in 1922 with additions in 1947. (1-5)

The Town Hall behind is known to have contained a First World War roll of honour dedicated to those who fell, placed there in 1921, but it is not known if it survived a serious fire in 1952. (2-3)
