The site of St Cuthbert's Church, Satley was formerly the location of a medieval chapel. This is now covered by an early eighteenth century chapel-of-ease which was in turn enlarged and restored in the period AD 1870 to 1871. This created the current parish church after the parish became separate in 1768. The present nave occupies the same site as the former nave and chancel.

Inside the church is a nineteenth century octagonal font and high-quality pannelled doors by Thompson of Masham. The Gothic-style priest's stall is in memory of G.S. Ellam who died in 1905 and the rood screen dates to 1907 and is a memorial to the Rev. de Pledge under whom the church was restored and embellished by subscription . The chancel and sanctuary floors consist of red, black and cream tiles.

Other memorials include brass to Rev. de Pledge's 3rd son who was a Colonel in 19th Hussars and died 1908. The organ dates to 1879 and was made by Harrison and Harrison. Nineteenth century glass includes memorials to John Greenwell of Broomshields, and to Rev. Thompson who died 1867 and Rev. de Pledge.
