Bloomery Site, Harthope Mill (Bedburn)
This is the site of a medieval (1066 to 1540) metalworking site. Documentary and archaeological evidence would seem to suggest that the site originally consisted of two hearths, a mill pond and race and a number of timber and turf buildings to house the workers. Much of the site still survives with a large area being beneath the later corn mill and agricultural buildings.
