Enclosure (possibly Romano-British), Cockfield Fell 1, Cockfield (Cockfield)

These are the remains of an rectangular enclosure surrounded by an earth bank. They may have been part of a Roman settlement. This is a Scheduled Ancient Monument protected by law. (1)

A large rectangular enclosure of potential medieval and/or post medieval date is visible as shallow earthworks on Cockfield Fell. The earthworks are extant on the latest 2015 vertical aerial photography (3).
