Site of Cup and Ring Mark Stone, Gainford House stables (Gainford)
A cup and ring marked stone was found when building the stables of Gainford House. It was probably carved in the Early Bronze Age or Late Neolithic. The purpose of these carvings is not clear though they may have had a religious function. The stone is now in the Bowes Museum (1).
