Sleeper Stones, Newton Aycliffe (Newton Aycliffe)
Sandstone Sleepers used for the Stockton & Darlington Railway dating circa 1830 A.D. Each block is 2ft2 and weighs roughly 100kg. These are very likely to have been moved between 1896 - 1914 for a North Eastern Rail track. It is uncertain what the purpose of this track was. These are where the stones sit now (1).
