1, 3, 5 & 7 Tempest Road, Seaham (Seaham)

This building appears on the 2nd edition Ordnance Survey map of 1894 (1). It was absent from the 1st edition Ordnance Survey map of 1856 (2). The group of four buildings was formerly known as Sebastopol Terrace. Sebastopol Terrace were coast guard houses (government property) owned by The Treasury Valuer, The Treasury Whitehall London SW (3). 3 Sebastopol Terrace was occupied by Reverend Carl Johan Engvall, a Scandinavian minister, in 1914 (4). It functioned as officers' quarters during World War I (5). The terrace has interesting architectural features (6).
