Former Workhouse (Alnwick)
This building is the former workhouse in Alnwick. Poor people without jobs were forced into workhouses during some of the 19th century, where they had labour in return for food and accommodation. Next to the workhouse is the Keeper's House, where the overseer of the workhouse lived. They were both built in 1870. They are Grade II Listed Buildings.
